BACKGROUND
Steve is a water engineer with 25 years experience. He started his career with the old Water Resources Commission in 1984 where he was engaged in water infrastructure design, construction and commissioning for four years. From there he moved to the food industry where he gained considerable experience in machine design, bulk handling, maintenance and reliability engineering. In 1993 he returned to the water industry with Tubemakers Water (now TYCO Water) where he gained experience in pipeline design, detailing, manufacture and installation.
Since October 1996 Steve has worked as a contractor in and a consultant to the water industry focusing on major pump station, pipeline and treatment plant planning studies, design, condition assessment, maintenance strategy development, refurbishment and capital upgrades for SunWater, Brisbane Water, GE Energy, major consulting groups and others.
KEY EXPERTISE
Steve’s areas of special interest are pumps, hydraulic design, dam safety and asset management.
New pump station design, construction, commissioning and performance monitoring, pump intake design for river intakes, wet and dry well and conventional pump stations as well as hydraulic design. Steve has extensive experience in the refurbishment of major pumping stations including detailed refitting of pumps, valves and water equipment.
Steve has considerable expertise in water infrastructure asset condition assessment and condition monitoring, including development of IT software systems for condition assessment, risk assessment and maintenance planning and prediction of water quality effects on infrastructure.
Steve’s dam safety experience includes failure mode analysis of all mechanical equipment associated with large dams flood gates and outlet works.
